What is Sandlot and how does it benefit players?
Sandlot is a fun program designed to let the players take control of their game while using skills based on their level and peer interaction. It will teach them how to develop social skills, coaching skills, problem solving and sportsmanship.
What is the role of the player?
At each game, 2 team captains will be chosen by the manager. The team captains will be different every game. The team captain will be responsible for choosing the batting lineup and placing players in different defensive positions throughout the game.
What will your player need?
Players will need to bring a glove, wear sneakers/cleats and athletic protector. There are no uniforms in Sandlot. If your player has their own equipment, awesome. If they do not have a helmet or bat, don’t worry we have equipment bags full of stuff to borrow. Because it gets very hot at this time of the year, always have a full water bottle for every game.
How is Sandlot played?
Every game will start with a 15 minute warm up drill, instructed by the Team Manager. Then the players will break off into 2 teams. There are no scores, no trophies. The rules will be as the teams choose, based on all LL rule guidelines. Pitch count rules will be monitored, no head first sliding and positive sportsmanship only. And the number 1 rule…HAVE FUN EVERYONE!
